Stereotypes are a problem. We are the solution.

A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified idea of a person or group of people.

Almost every group of people in modern society has some sort of stereotype associated with them. Many groups have multiple stereotypes. These stigmas are debilitating, humiliating, and act as walls that can block people from succeeding to the best of their ability. Stereotypes develop most often through cultural misunderstanding and miseducation, and although they may be truthful characteristics of individual people, they generally do not accurately represent the larger group of people they are associated with.

We can all do our part to erase stereotypes from our culture, and making this change begins with education. The infographics on this website outline the stereotypes associated with white men, African Americans, and women. Click on each word to find out more information about that stereotype and how it affects those limited by it.
